Our Digitization Clients

Our digitization clients range from families with a single shoebox of photographs to institutions with decades of archives. What they share is material that cannot be replaced if something goes wrong.

Families

Most of our work is family history: wedding albums, holiday reels, home videos of children who now have children of their own. These jobs matter most because there is exactly one copy in the world.

Nonprofits and community organizations

We have digitized decades of records, event photography and recorded talks for local nonprofits and community groups, often at reduced rates. Preserving a community’s history is worth doing properly.

Schools, museums and businesses

Yearbook archives, microfilm collections, training footage, legal records and corporate media libraries all pass through our lab. See our corporate digitization services for volume work and secure handling.

Because the person who takes in your material is the person who does the work. Nothing is shipped to a processing centre. Our digitization clients can call and speak to someone who has actually handled their collection.

Working with institutions

Institutional digitization clients bring different problems to family ones. A museum needs consistent file naming and metadata so material can be found in twenty years. A school archive needs bulk throughput at a predictable price. A law office needs a documented chain of custody. We scope each of these before quoting, because a job that suits one workflow badly suits another perfectly.

Long-term relationships

Many of our digitization clients come back in stages — a first batch to see how it goes, then the rest once they trust the results. That suits us. It means you are never committing a whole collection to a lab you have not tested, and it lets us learn how you want files organized before we do the bulk of the work.

Confidentiality

Some material is sensitive: legal records, medical archives, personal correspondence. Work stays in our facility, is not subcontracted, and we will sign a confidentiality agreement before collection where that matters.

Becoming a client

There is no minimum order and no account to open. Call, describe what you have, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right lab for it.

Digitization clients across the tri-state area

While most of our digitization clients are local to Nassau and Suffolk County, we regularly work with customers from New York City, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut who ship their collections to us. Distance changes the logistics, not the care taken with the material.

What our digitization clients ask us to solve

Usually one of three problems: a format nobody can play anymore, a collection too large to tackle at home, or material deteriorating faster than expected. Each needs a different plan, and the first conversation is about which of those you actually have.

Guidance we point clients to

Institutional digitization clients often ask what standards we follow. For preservation practice we refer to the Library of Congress care guidance, and for conservation questions the Northeast Document Conservation Center publishes excellent free leaflets on handling and storing at-risk materials.
